Monday Musings, Tuesday Style

Did you have a good Memorial Day weekend?

Still unpacking and catching up on laundry from our trip this past weekend. We spent a good bit of time in the car driving to and from Virginia, during which I confirmed a prior epiphany:

Boys, no matter what their age, think bodily functions are hil-ar-i-ous.

Case in point: R and G spent easily 30 minutes in the car yesterday trading attempts at making, what we somewhat politely call "poot" noises. R started making noises, which G thought was absolutely hysterical. After a few minutes, he chimed in, which R thought was the best ever: "G is making pooting noises!! Ha ha ha ha!!"

I have to admit, I did get a kick out of it and the fact that they were entertaining themselves was wonderful. When I made a face to SPH about it, he just shrugged and said, "they're boys!"

Second case in point: A couple weekends ago the circus was in town. The elephants marched from a train depot near our home downtown, to the arena where they would be performing. I popped G in the stroller and R, G and I walked to see elephants walking down our city's streets:Closely following the parade were these street cleaners, for the, um, you know:
Can you guess what cracked R up more?

Ok, so enough potty talk. We have a short week *and* this is the last week of SPH's business school experience. We have a lot of stuff going on during the week so easy meals and a few nights out:

Seared tuna over spinach salad (recipe to follow later this week)
Taco night
Baked Vegetable and Cheese Sandwiches (a new one, will post recipe if it is a winner)

Have a sweet week,
SPC

We had seared tuna and sauteed spinach tonight! Can't wait to hear the recipe.

Tomorrow we're having your Chicken Tetrazzini. I made the other one for friends of ours with a newborn.

Question for you: Can I pop that bad boy in the microwave for a bit before popping in the oven to eliminate some of the cooking time? The Slackers might starve to death if we have to wait 90 minutes to eat!

Oh yeah, definitely do the microwave trick. I think the only part that needs to be done in the oven is the end so the stuff on top gets nice and brown and bubbly.

Let's see. Tonight was chili mac and green salad. Tomorrow we're eating with neighbors. And Thursday is the big BDay Party...pizza and cupcakes. Friday Brian is home so maybe we'll do take out or left overs (we grilled cod with cherry tomatoes and zucchini this weekend). Saturday we're going to my best friend from high school's sister's wedding. Can't wait to see her and her three children are in the wedding too. Sunday we'll do Rachel's family party at our house and might do fajitas or tacos since those are some of her current faves.

PS
What was the website you mentioned where you can plug in the ingredients and come up with different dishes? I overbought celery and have some mushrooms to use up too.

Dan's in L.A. all week, so tonight we did Moe's (kids eat free on Tuesdays-I fed all 4 of us for $6!), tomorrow night it's something easy (Annie's mac and cheese for them, cereal for me), Thursday it's Lobster and Truffle ravioli (homemade, not by me, bought it at the farmer's market), Friday-chicken brats on the grill with sweet potato fries and green salad, saturday-oceanside dining at the beach with a pizza!
