Strawberries

Yesterday afternoon R and some friends from his preschool went strawberry picking. Oh, and they let the parents and siblings come along too...

We met up at Jacquemin Farms, where the owners told us, "feel free to sample the berries as you pick." G took this advice to heart, leaving a path of strawberry juice wherever he walked and touched.

There is just something about smelling fresh, warm, ripe berries in the air. The smell puts those heinous faux berry fresheners smell to shame.

With this sudden strawberry surplus we are making this incredible looking Strawberry-Almond Cream Tart:

Yum. I can't wait!

I just love strawberry picking - it was one of the best parts of living in New Jersey. They were plentiful and delicious! Enjoy your baking!

That tart looks divine.

John got strawberries at the grocery store on Sunday. They were gone by Sunday afternoon. I imagine A and E could put a hurting on a strawberry crop if we let them go on a picking trip.

You know I love that tart...I think it's the one I made for Jenn's shower at your house. I remember making it for supper club at Jenn's yet again and being very, very pregnant with Harrison (it was August no-less!)

Those pics are so cute. We went to Jaq Farms this year as well, but the strawberries we picked were just not good at all. We bought pounds and pounds of them and they went into the trash a few days later. Disappointing, but it was such a fun time and good to teach them where food comes from!

E--They had a plentiful crop. I meant to tell you to go, since I remember your trip last year.
