New Year, New Sound

If you were able to hear my home as I type this post, you would hear a very sweet sound...

silence.

R and G both returned to school this morning, much to their delight. As wonderful as it was to have all four of us home for the last two weeks of the year, we were all happy to return to our routine today. R to see his friends and get back to 1st grade, G to experience all the messy fun of preschool, SPH to have one extra day off to ease back into work and Yours Truly, a chance to catch my breath between the activity of break and the busy-ness of the weeks to come.

(quick pause to relish the silence, again)

It was an active break, full of Christmas activity, winter activity...

(G, me and R on a fun sleigh ride to go grocery shopping on Christmas Eve)

And yes, kitchen activity. With SPH home for the break, I had lots of time to get my cooking on, and I am excited to share some new for 2011 recipes. I'll be blogging a lot over on familyeducation.com too, sharing new, healthier renditions of family-favorite recipes.

So get ready to get inspired. I'm fired up for the new week and new year--I hope you are too!

Speaking of all these "new" things, here are our meals for the new week:

Chili-Lime Tilapia, Mashed Sweet Potatoes, Roasted Eggplant
Caramelized Onion Calzones, Lemon Glazed Green Beans, Pineapple
Tofu Stirfry with Brown Rice
Chicken Taco Soup with Baked Tortilla Chips
Northstar Cafe (Vegetarian) Burgers, Oven Fries, and Broccoli

Have a sweet start to your week,
SPC

You take a sleigh to the grocery store? Wow, life sure is fancy there in Ohio!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you too! I'll be at your house Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday for dinner. Be sure to set a plate for me. ;)

Oh Yes, we *always* travel to the grocery in style.

I wish.

Our new local fancy-schmancy grocery was doing a special thing with the sleigh on Christmas Eve. We were sooooo fortunate in that when we arrived (early) there was no line. When we left, there were dozens in line. Otherwise, the picture attached to this post never would have happened. :)

Is the Chile-Lime tilapia recipe in the queue for an upcoming blog post? We had your citrus baked cod (with tilapia) last night for dinner. It's our stand-by marinade for tilapia, so I would love to try something new!

We're going for easy peasy meals ourselves this week so as not to overwhelm this tired chef in our first days back to reality.

Steak, baked potato, roasted asparagus
Citrus baked tilapia, cous cous, sauteed spinach
Giada's Quick Marinara Sauce with Spaghetti, Salads (or peas & grape tomatoes, depending on age)
Black bean soup

Slacker--SPH made up the chili-lime recipe, so I need to try and recreate it and then yes, it will be in the queue.

BTW, I stand in awe of you...pregnant, working and cooking? You rock.
