Pumpkin Growing Attempted

Back in April we transplanted our pumpkin seedlings, grown from seed in our kitchen, into our yard. Things were looking good for the first part of the summer and I had dreams of opening up a farm stand in our front yard.

Alas, our pumpkin plants got bacterial wilt and ended up looking like this (the other vines completely withered):
But that's why there's pumpkin patches, right?

Maybe we'll try again next year,
SPC

Wow, HUGE pumpkin you bought! I was thinking about planting pumpkins next year too, hopefully they'll do well... yours too!

Found you through a friend's blog :)

You're too honest, SPC. You could have posted pics of those bad boys and called them your own. We would have been none the wiser...

We have a Dora book where she and Boots go to the pumpkin patch to pick out the perfect pumpkin for Abuela to make a pie...so now E keeps begging to go to the pumpkin patch, too. You gonna do any pumpkin recipes any time soon?

Awesome pumpkins! They recommend planting them here in late August, but we couldn't find any seeds then. We'll try next year. I did do a little experiment with radishes and brussel sprouts (Brian's fave) this fall. I'll post more soon and let you know how they turned out.

Hopefully we're off to the pumpkin patch today!

That one pumpkin is HUGE!!! Wow. Makes the two we got today look like little gourds. :)
