Halloween Parties and Endless Monopoly

On Friday R's school had their annual dress-up parade, a long line-up of kindergarteners through 5th graders. There is usually at least one costume that catches my eye or gives me a good laugh. This year there were two:

That is G in the foreground, getting a good laugh out of the "giant iPhone!"

After the parade and party, R was home, begging me to teach him how to play Monopoly, a game he read about in a book and has wanted to learn for some time.

So...Friday afternoon I taught him and G, and at this moment, the game is still in progress. R and G paused and unpaused the game all weekend, and I've been amazed at how well they've played it. But in true Monopoly fashion, it looks as though this game may never end.

Still, it is neat to see my "board game" gene coming out in my boys:

Tonight we'll be serving up our annual Halloween night dinner, then we'll head out for some fun Trick-or-Treating and the candy onslaught. Hope y'all have fun out there tonight!

We were board game ga-ga this weekend too! And did you know there's a "short play" option for Monopoly? I found an extra pamphet in our circa 1975 box about how to shorten the game to 60-90 minutes. You could also just set a timer and have everyone cash out when it rings.

Hope you all have a spooktacular Halloween!

I think the timer idea is brilliant! Think we may have to do that and SOON! :)

Happy Halloween to you too! Have fun tonight!!
