Autumn is really here

The weather is getting cooler, the leaves are starting to change, and I am fired up to create some more meals.

Halloween will be here before we know it too. I see more and more pumpkins popping up on front stoops around the neighborhood.

I had thought I could convince R to be a fire fighter, and then I was going to dress G up as a dalmatian. But R is *insists* upon being a pilot, and I have made my peace with the fact that I won't be able to control their costume (or any for that matter) choices forever. But, come on, look how darn cute they looked last year in the costumes I chose for them:
What are your little pumpkins dressing up as this Halloween?

Our meals for the week:

Jambalaya with Pureed Cauliflower
A new Baked Penne recipe with a Spinach Salad
Baked, Stacked Quesadillas
A new Pork Tenderloin recipe with Roasted Sweet Potatoes and whatever veggie I pick up at the Farmer's Market this week

Have a sweet week,
SPC

I don't know about this year, but last year my boys dressed up as Mario and Luigi. It was an easy costume (overalls, a colored hat we added an M and an L to). White gloves. We got so many comments! It was shocking how many people loved it. Young and Old, everyone knew who they were supposed to be.

I think E wants to be Ariel (of course!)...but not the Ariel bride (which we have the gown), she wants the Mermaid Ariel. I'm drawing the line at a wig cause the freak me out on kids.

We *thought* that A was going to be Minnie Mouse because my ILs picked up an adorable costume at Disney...but the way she has been acting of late, I think we might have a fight on our hands with that, too!

Evan is going to a Pirate this year. It is too cute!! Last year he was a golfer and that was a great costume too.

I loved Evan's golfer costume!!!

Jake wants to be a robot and Rachel hasn't decided. This is shocking to me because we have typically had our costumes in August. Before you think I'm a crazy costume nazi, Rachel has always picked Princess costumes which are crazy to find and VERY expensive if you leave them to October.

I think Rachel will be pulling from her overflowing dressup drawer - angel, balerina, fairy have been thrown around so far.

Your recipes sound delish SPC. We're doing something with butternut squash and tonight is peanut chicken with soba noodles.

It's me again. We've done Goldilocks and Baby Bear and Cinderella with the Frog Prince. Last year Rachel was Snow White and dressed Jake as Dopey for the pictures, but he was Diego (his choice) for trick or treating.

I love dressing them together and could have come up with a million different ideas. Sigh.

My ILs love your costume idea from last year SPC!

they are so cute!

last year, I had a cowgirl and a cow (boy -- boy cow?). I love doing the theme thing too. However, this year DD is sold on being "Queen Esther" (courtesy of Veggie Tales), DS #1 is going to be a lion ("Roar"!) and baby boy is going to be a cute lil bear. I almost pulled off a Wizard of Oz theme, but Dorothy wouldn't cooperate.

J is going to be Snow White. My Mom found a costume for her complete with a hoop skirt & cape for $12 at TJ Maxx!!

E is going to be an apple if I can figure out how to make it. I am just not crafty. (Get it...poison apple with Snow White?!) I figure this is the only year I might be able to get him to be whatever I want him to be!
