Farm in the City

Who says you have to go into the country to learn about food origins? COSI's annual Big Farm Days was a hit again this year:

G got so "into" milking the cow, I am thinking we may have a future farmer on our hands.

Speaking of farming, our CSA is going strong, this was our *half* of the share this weekend:

Time to come up with some new healthy produce recipes. Last week I made a new kind of corn salad from UNcooked kernels off the cob. It was brilliant and super tasty. Look for that recipe later this week...

Until then, our meals for the week:

Greek Tuna (a SPH creation), Mediterranean String Beans, Hummus and Pita
Chipotle Cheddar Burgers, Eggplant "Chips," Corn on the Cob
Grilled Chicken Bratwurst, Tzatziki, Sauteed Red Cabbage, Grilled Peaches
Greek Style Orzo Pasta Salad (new recipe)

Have a great week!

Ooooo! Can't wait for the Greek Orzo Salad recipe!

You'll appreciate this...since John was out of town this weekend, I tried a new recipe for me and the girls. (No biggie...just an easy peasy homemade fish stick recipe from Everyday food.) But how funny that I waited until my "picky eater" was gone, because I knew he would be the most apprehensive to try it!?!?

My Jack would have gone bananas for a farm day like that.

Whaaaaattt?!?!?!? I so want to take Liam to the Farm thingy! I wonder if he will care about it next year? He's already baked muffins with me and I hope that he will only grow more interested in food as he gets older!

p.s. thanks for the compliments... I think he's precious, too!

That's really cool! Great photos too. By the way, there's a new social networking site dedicated to parents and kids, it's called Bluepixo.com - it's a place for Moms, Dads, and Kids! Now, there’s even a chance to win a free iPod Nano! I'm inviting you to please sign up. I hope to see you there!
