Adieu Summer

Every kid knows that summer really ends when the school bell rings and it is time to go back to school, but on this last day of official summer, I am already thinking autumn. Did you check out the recipe for Braised Red Cabbage last week on familyeducation.com? Hint, it would make a fabulous side to your Oktoberfest dinner next month:

We've been busy at chez Sweet Pea, but settling into our busy autumn, er laaaaate summer nicely. Poor G though, almost every day I have to wake him up from his afternoon nap to pick R up from kindergarten. I mean, could he look more sleepy without actually being asleep?

Ah, the hardships of being a second child.

With autumn and the cooler weather arriving soon, I am ready to crack out my slow cooker more often. I am on the hunt for some good slow cooker recipes, so if you have a winner, be sure to leave it in the comments.

Oh, and our meals for the week:

Fish tacos, avocado, homemade salsa and mango
Pasta Carbonara and broccoli
Chicken Tandoori, roasted Indian eggplant and chickpeas
Slow Cooker Italian Bean and Artichoke Soup
Indian Calzones

Happy Fall All-
SPC

Looking at your child's photo brings back memories of school and how I hate the so-early morning wake-ups and breakfast. Makes me appreciate also how much I love being a stay-at-home mom. He'll be fine. Thanks for sharing your recipe here. I'll think of one good slow cooker recipe for you. Good luck on everything. By the way, these free gift cards might interest you too. Have a blessed day!

Oh, he looks sooooooo sleepy! My kids have been falling asleep before I leave the room at night, which hasn't happened in a very long time.

Very excited for the slow cooker recipes! Also, I'd like to request more recipes like your Chicken Tetrazzini where you make multiple batches and freeze the extras. I'm *all* about the advanced prep these days!

Hi, my friend Jersey Baby turned me onto your site. I love my slow cooker too, and I recently found this site that seems to have lots of yummy recipes to try. I especially love the sound of apples in there with chicken or pork for fall!

I made your carne asada marinade recipe into a slow cooker recipe by simply cutting the meat into cubes. It was awesome, and other who have tried it gave it rave reviews. Can be served with rice and beans for a more "wintry" dish.

I am so ready to say goodbye to summer myself. I looked at a calendar today and realized it was officially over but I surely couldn't tell from this heat. I am over it and ready for crockpot eves as well.
