A camera, a broken toe(?) and other fun stuff

Doesn't that look good? R and I made these yesterday. I will post the recipe tomorrow, it is my new recipe for Nutty Crumb-y Topped Banana Muffins. But really, look at that picture...head and shoulders over my old ones, n'est pas?

It was 2001 when SPH and I last bought a digital camera. At that time a 16 MB memory card was really rockin' and the dimenstions of 5 inches long and 1 1/2 inches wide made it teeny tiny. I am loving the new camera we picked up this weekend and hope you will love the improved pictures as much as I do.

Oh, and I think I may have broken my toe.

I slammed, I mean, *really* slammed my toe with the pantry door Sunday morning trying to retrieve some items to make oatmeal for the boys. It smarted. A lot. I can still move it, but it kind of feels funky/numb-ly/weird when I do. I am going to give it a day or two and if still feels this way, perhaps I'll go see the doc. Anyone out there an orthapedic doctor?

The weather is cooler this week and the days are getting shorter. Autumn is here, my favorite time of the year to really get into the kitchen and get cooking.

Our meals for the week:
Chicken Poblano
Cashew Chicken, but made with tofu instead of chicken
Curry Shrimp, Mater Paneer and Brown Rice (using Trader Joe's Indian Packs and Marinade)
Chili, Fast or Slow
Pizza Bread, Spinach Salad and Fresh Pineapple

Have a sweet week,
SPC

I have always heard that there isn't much you can do for a broken toe other than tape it to its neighbor for stability. But NO, I am not a doc of any sort! Muffins look yummy!

So sorry about your toe..OUCH! The muffin does look yummy. What camera did you end up going with?

I'm not a doctor, but I am a huge klutz and have broken many a toe. Really, the only thing the doctor is going to tell you to is to tape it to its neighbors.

I had my first foray into whole wheat pizza dough last night. The first batch I tried a 50/50 split on white and wheat...not good. When I did 2 to 1, it was *much* better. Though I just clicked through to your recipe am and definitely going to use your tips!

So sorry about your toe! OUCH. I think I broke my toe once - it was the second to the last (next to the pinky toe). Hurt like a mother... but I think Slacker Mama is right, there's not much you can do except tape it and ride it out. Ugh. I need to call you, but I have a feeling that impromptu calls are hard with both of our schedules. Are you around in the evenings this week? Any time particularly better for you?

That toe thing is killer. But congrats on the camera. Did you use it on the storm pictures too? They looked pretty amazing as well.

We're doing red beans and rice and stuffed bell peppers this week. Not sure what else, but I've been craving Indian so may be time for some curry chickpeas.

Thanks for all the medical advice. The toe feels somewhat better, but still funky. I go to the OB tomorrow, maybe she can reach back into the recesses of her mind to her residency and help advise me. :)

SM, I got a Canon Powershot 1100 Elph. I weighed an SLR, but I think I am more of a "throw it in the purse" sort of camera mommy. Maybe someday...
